Eve's Eden
There in a clearing enclosed by the foliage Leading to a tide pool where the river ends Barefoot, she stands as if waiting for him Light heavily soiled gown and dark skinned Her backward glance boost his resolve Trailing behind he followed as she moved With an outstretched arm he moved closer Her eyes returning his quizzical stare Her gown was soiled as was her legs and arms Bruises and cuts revealed a woman so harmed Her eyes betrayed nothing, not hurt, nor a cry Signs of sufferings he wanted to know why She turned and walked away into the water Engulfing her knees, hips, torso and shoulders As she disappeared leaving a ripple to the surface He waited and waited but she did not surfaced Suddenly a hand take grasps of his seemingly pull Feared a trap but calmed as she arose from the pool It was a different woman that stood before him Her bruises and cuts now healed a radiant face so clean Beaming eyes, a wide smile framed by cascading hair The cinnamon hue of her nude figure glowing in the air He would have taken her in another place and time But this is not the place, nor was it the time As she withdrew from the water came a solitary form Faceless and androgynous figure as the clouds begin to storm Until it dissipated and silt began to burble up from the bottom In the middle taking up a myriad of human forms Featureless except the faces with eyes full of scorn Self-pity, jealousy and hate, mouths agape with emotions Struggling, grasping for air, the figure sank below Carried away by the current as the river restored its flow He turned to see her reaction but she was no longer there Held aloft by wings unseen, he found her hovering in the air Alighting beside him, their eyes locked with tenderness Leaning forward she kissed his lips with gentleness With that she spiraled along the wind and fly Where she left a brilliant point of light in the sky Her presence left an indelible mark He knows she will be back…she will comeback!
