Gloriously Simple Wedding
Two-thousand miles to my destiny Leaving all I'd ever known, behind, I traveled across the Nation. Tears flowed as I waved to them Still standing at the station. He'd said he'd be the first in line When I reached my destination.. If he wasn't there, what would I do? My cash I'd have to ration. The year was nineteen forty one. No one had any money. But I had the utmost faith in him, The one who called me Honey. The train pulled in, my love was there. The cloudy skies turned sunny. There was no doubt we'd soon be tied With the bonds of matrimony. I don't remember any flowers And gay ribbons were not rife. No family and friends were with me, Our wedding cake was a Duncan Phife.. But my wedding was splendrous and special Because it made me his wife; Though only strangers were there to see The start of our happy new life. March 5, 2016
