Painters Frailities
Painters Frailties (unfinished) This is from my friend Terry Cooper. Thought it would give some people something to think about. Jim Hotn I don’t know if you are aware? For an artist with a doubtful disposition to paint successfully, guided by their own standards, takes considerable self-belief and determination. Because during the process of painting, the artist, is bombarded with all sorts of doubts and self-admonishment, as the desired result momentarily eludes them from time to time, laced with peaks of elation, as suddenly it comes together, this phenomenon needs to be worked through, to attain any degree of satisfaction. Painting to one’s satisfaction, is not an easy task in any shape or form, which is why it is important to praise your artists work from time to time, as they are never sure how it will be received by those closest to them. I believe that is why they often congregate together, quite apart from gaining support and learning from one another, it is the comfort attained by another’s appreciation. I have such a problem right now, it had to be didn’t it, otherwise Why write about it? I have been struggling to paint with any degree Of concentration, little control with brush or palette knife, exasperation! However, I do have one of many unfinished pieces that I gained inspiration for during a dream, that I hope to bring to fruition when I eventually attempt to fire-up the old engine once again, perhaps very soon, but much doubt still persists within my psyche.
