Disappear With the Sun
tonight as i was sitting in the backseat of the car i leaned my head against the window my family was going on about something, probably about politics or other topics that would ring in my ear i put my headphones in and turned on that song that made everything ok i turned the volume as high as i could until the point where my brain was being eaten by the melodies and my heartbeat matched the beat of the song my gaze followed the lights of the traffic as my eyes went out of focus and my toes became numb i watched the sun travel down, disappearing into the earth i wondered if i could join it i unbuckled my seatbelt and silently crept out of the car i ran and i ran until i finally found where the sun started it stretched an arm out for me to grab i was frozen for a minute i was worried that the sun’s arm might burn me but then a blanket of assurance washed over my head and i faded into the earth with the sun i am gone for the night but in the morning when the birds sing when the flowers come out of hiding and the dewy grass brushes between your toes when the smell of bacon fills the house and kids are stretching out of bed when it’s too early for anything to go wrong just like the sun, i will rise again m.r.
