I Rouse You From Sleep
What sort of creatures ought we to be not those who choose to live in solitude but twas the path of my journey long ago when time and place ruled me unworthy My hand causing ripples in a flowing stream unaware of eyes that beheld me in reverie He watched and smiled and later told me he thought I was a fairy, and he in a dream. Captured was his heart for me, he had won mine Tis glad I am, the desire in his eyes drew me in Twas years, decades, or was it only moments ago when first the spell of love cast its net over us. And ere since that day beside the silver stream, we've been woven together, braided like twine I lie beside you now, in the dawning of light watching you breathe in peaceful slumber Your chest rises with each beat of your heart and I am powerless in my need to touch you Gently, do I trace the line of your stubble jaw You stir, and I smile in anxious anticipation waiting for you to open your lidded amorous eyes and feel your loving arms as they reach out for me Each day I rouse you thus, because you awakened me from an obscure dark dormancy of a different kind You saw in me a glimpse of a sequestered light bathed me in love until my soul was polished No finer wish could I ever hope to have fulfilled then to have the riches of a treasure such as you Afraid to sleep ere I should wake to find myself at the stream, and you, my paramour, the dream.
