Path
I can see the destination, I can feel the path I can hear others rejoicing, with a constant laugh. Quitting seems logical in abating the distress For I could follow a safer path, nevertheless. Yet some force within me, commands me to propel To endure what seems like an eternity in hell. Times are unstable, no clear paths are in sight Perpetually reminding myself- the future is bright. Equipped with minimal resources and no silver or gold Searching for heat, whilst journeying in the cold. Expecting lady luck to show her pretty face With nothing but a smile and a warm, loving embrace. The path is thorny and muddy, uncomfortable at best Yet I continue to march, like a man who is possessed. Ostensibly effortless, with shortcuts left and right To either embrace the pain or succumb to delight The smell of comfort penetrates the walls of change My body weakens, yet I resist the exchange. I can taste my last handful of left over crumbs It is now or never. Here it comes. I have reached the destination, there is now a smoother path I do not rejoice, with a constant laugh. An unexpected tear escapes my tired eye I collapse with exhaustion and begin to cry.
