Such Is Life
Some work an entire life-time hardly getting by Others are blessed from birth; barely needing to try New blisters forming daily; bodies taking a toll Nothing left to sacrifice, but a tired empty soul Never able to plan ahead, for the future seems so bleak This is the parody of the working man; trying to make ends meet Lack of an education, but hard-working with hands of steel Working from sunrise to sunset; in order to provide his family a meal Underprivileged and inflated with debt; his spirit still soaring high As his eyes gaze over his loved ones, his body releases a heavy sigh Wondering what tomorrow will bring and if a raise is soon to arrive Just one lucky break is all it will take to ensure their ability to survive Struggling and scrounging has become a ritual their very accustomed to Apologizing to his supportive wife, “I’m sorry this was the best I could do” Her eyes now filled with tears as she takes him by the hand without strife My love for you was never monetary and the remainder is such is life © Stacy Lynn Stiles
