So You Want To Fit In, What To Say To Your Teenage Daughter
So you say you want to fit in... so with what or whom do you choose to be like... not yourself, that's for sure, trying to please them you lose, you lose yourself... never to be found, until you're older, maybe not even then. You must know you have value, that you don't really need them. To know who you are, what you stand for, what you believe is right, is more important than being seen with him or her on a Friday night. What you wear, says who you are, tells others what you think, do you really like your hair like that, do you always just like pink? Don't fall for the trap, trying to please others, compromising your integrity, they won't be there for you, even if you're pretty. Even then, they're not real friends, you can tell by what they do, by what they say behind your back, that isn't even true. For your own good, takes some time, of which you have plenty, to help yourself to have conviction, know yourself... before you're twenty. Remember it's not your clothes, your phone, your hair, the reaction, it is you as a person, who you really are, that is attractive. The more you realize that this is true, the less you will care about pleasing them, then, one fine day they will come to you and ask, will you be my friend? John Derek Hamilton January 13 2013
