Woe and the Crow
Bitter winds chill my bones this day, whistling like you once had Cheerful memories fill my heart, back when my life wasn’t so bad When the smell of Christmas cookies sweetened the air, I miss it so During those better times where, happily, you watched me grow Our family always came together through your goodness inside Spending your life to make sure we all lived ours, with such pride We never talked much, but the times we did I will always remember Your words will never die within me, like a forever burning ember I don’t visit as much as I should, I wish I could, but it hurts terribly My soul shatters, my heart weeps, and the tears weld so unbearably Dropping to my knees, I bow my head in anguish and deep regret No longer does my strength hold strong against your death’s lament Tears fall from my eyes, splashing along the granite at my knees Thinking of the day you had to leave, and how my heart grieves I just wish there could be just one last time that I can see your face To hold you, and just one last time feel your endless loving grace Now I can’t cry no more, and I wipe away the tears on the granite Caressing the coldness, wishing to be no where else on this planet Than at your side, to give back the love you gave to me so long ago But now all I have left to embrace for losing you is this eternal woe Though years have passed, the pain is still so strong, not letting go Until my tear filled eyes gazed from where you rest to a silent crow Taking flight, the bird called for the opening of the Gates of Heaven My message will reach you now; deep down I know it to be proven
