Outside My Window,
A subtle foreign noise awakened me during the morning hours. I heard a thrashing of small branches breaking, as it proudly, without care, made it's way closer to me. Quietly I made it to my bedroom window, intense adrenaline flowing through me. Peering out and looking intently, trying to find what was lurking, and drawing attention. Focusing and squinting. To my surprise, making its way through the woods. There stood a majestic form of an animal. At first I thought it was a wolf, but we don't have wolves in our area. Puzzled and bewildered I stood there in amazement. I realized by its size and beautiful fur, it was a lone alpha Coyote. My eyes followed him, as he made his way toward nearby residents. I couldn't imagine where he was heading as he disappeared from my sight. I noticed the window fogging up from my enthusiasm. I wiped the wet glass, from my condensed breath. It was such a rare sighting, I just stood there waiting and looking, hoping to see this lone hunter again. Not too long waiting, my wish was granted. To my amazement he was trotting with a large black cat, dangling from his mouth. My wife watching with me. Screamed! "Oh MY GOD!" she than broke out crying. We both were traumatized by what we had witnessed. Our bedroom window opened our eyes, to the reality of survival in these wild woods. Michael Tor Contest. Outside my window.
