San Juan
Eyes and eyes and eyes- That is what I remember. The smiles, the embraces Of my brothers and sisters. Little friends, Trailing behind, walking In my footprints. Let our words lead them to you, Father. Grant these children lives blessed With your presence. A world, vastly different From my own- Nevertheless, a new home. There is a solution to sadness here- Its name is thanksgiving. Our cultures should learn From each other. If only walls could be broken Instead of hearts. How beautiful that day would be. I will remember you. Perhaps we will meet again On earth, And perhaps we will not. In either case, I will pray. For the salvation of all of us- So that one-day we will be together, Regardless of planes and staircases and cinderblock. We will be together- No need for a translator, No hindrance whatsoever. Only Jesus. And what a day that will be.
