Father
Father The look in your eyes as you came through the door, Holding your chest and staggering to the floor. Watching you lay there and see the life slowly fade, I wonder of the mistakes I have made. I am sorry for being the son that disappointed you so, Never could make you proud, I tried you know. It was mother and sister, who wanted me to end your life, Yes your own blood your daughter and your wife. They were greedy and selfish to say the least, They convinced me that you were some kind of beast. The stories that they told were filled with horror and fear, They left me no choice but to put you here. As you lay there they snicker, laugh, and smile, Mother even makes me sit, watch, and wait awhile. He’s not gone yet son, she whispers in my ear, We have to make sure this time, because it was the second attempt this year. One last look into your eyes I see the questions in your mind, What did I do, what is happening, how I could be so blind? I am sorry for father, I’m sorry for ending your life, I know now the true monster was my mother, yes your wife. Years later I am still haunted by that night, I play it in my head and wake up with such a fright. Mother still lives and knows not of what she has done, She will always feel you were the reason, and I was the one. I am asking forgiveness, please I beg of you, Forgive me; I knew not what was true. We had our differences and a lot didn’t see eye to eye, But you didn’t deserve to leave, you didn’t deserve to die. I miss you father and think of you every day, Please forgive me father, please find a way.
