We walk by them and judge them by their demeanor Maybe to us they would be more appealing if they were cleaner See we look right through their pain to the pane behind them But we still can’t see ourselves clearly in the glass Because these days life moves fast and the only thing that matters is capital gains So when we don’t drop a dollar or dime for the man on the street we have no shame Because the blame isn’t ours The blame belongs to those who tell us that the man on the street is just some addict Kicked out of his parents attic for being too aggressive And for flunking out of school for doing things that he was told were cool But how could we know if we don’t know him But how could we know if we don’t know her We don’t know, and we probably won’t ever But maybe next time instead of buying an overpriced warm drink Just wait and think And ask yourself if it would hurt to give to someone who lives in the dirt And can’t afford a warm place or even a warm shirt Nothings free in this world The place is getting meaner But one thing people on the street can afford is their own private theatre The one where they watch people walk by them and judge them by their demeanor
