Suicide
Suicide How many deaths does it take for people to see To see how broken us kids are How many cuts does it take to see To see how lonely and lost we are How many traumatic events does it take to see To see that we need love. We go to school to learn But all we learn is how mean people are What we learn is who we are to others We learn that were not accepted That nobody cares for us But mostly we learn that nothing we do is good enough. We get pushed poked and picked on We get stepped on But "kids will be kids" right? The teachers are oblivious to the struggles we go through Their faces are drawn on Whether its the fake eyebrows Fake smiles Or fake laughs They are blind to the constant taunting and teasing To them they see phases They see "jokes" But in reality The teachers are almost as lost as we are. The administrator says its a phase That we just "haven't found ourselves yet" But we have, We found ourselves based on what others think of us We have found ourselves in the small talk in the halls That the color of our skin and brand of our clothes show who we really are. The "loner" girl falls for the "popular boy" The "pretty girl" breaks We are not who we want to be We are made up of other peoples opinions We are who people label us to be. Its always, Your too skinny Too fat Too stupid Too smart Never you are good enough for who you are. We carry the weight of negative opinions on our shoulders We walk the halls with our heads down We cry into our pillow late at night But us kids are blind to our real potential Our potential to be amazing To stand out and be somebody who people can count on Were so tangled in the negative thoughts that spin in our heads So blind to our greatest characteristics But so open to our biggest flaws. Us kids struggle to be seen as something amazing To be wanted by those we want But it doesn't happen So we take the only way out we know of Us kids give up, Suicide. But by the time they find you You've departed And the taunting and teasing Means nothing. The "phases" mean nothing The teachers The bullies The learning All means nothing. Your gone and there is no going back, Your potential to be amazing has vanished Your ability to be what you want is no longer in reach. But while you lay there Breathless Bare Broken and beaten The world doesn't just stop It goes on With or with out you.
