The Changing Perspective
The stretch of water mating with the clear blue sky at the horizon as the sun bids good bye shades of crimson hue merging with the blue a scenery my little eyes drank in delight of the puddles and sand castles, a deathly task my tiny hands carving out names on sand fighting the waves, its unfair, I wail and then entertained with an interesting tale of a world under the water surface of mermaid, dolphin, prince and princess Years passed and the views changed With my sweetheart as we strolled as one hand in hand through the shingle beach barefoot making love with the sand of the lips meeting, a tinge of salt as we sat cuddled, on the lonely bench the sea seemed jealous of the sight for there was a rise in tide, a fight as if the waves were eager to reach to break us apart and cause a breach It did succeed for I was deceived blinded by the sugar coated words for it erased all the memories sweet of days I had spent by the waterfront of the innocence of childhood and of the blissful youth I am a stranger to those which the memories hold for there is no love as forbade only the darkness seems to pervade Now the loneliness accompanies me as I am embraced by the strange whispers the eerie night air chill my bones and all I see is the gloom and sighs © Nadiya(11 May '15) * Placed 3rd in the contest 'Memories of the Sea' by Isaiah Zerbst on 15 May 2015.
