The Foolish Years
I have been a fool to have believe that I could have help him. I spent many years educating, training and advising him. Maybe, this was done for my own ego because I would never have children This I know before I was born. He was not the first child But he will be the last. He will always be his Father’s son And his Mother’s child. I invest in him like a piece of coal found in the Earth That I hope one day I could cash in for gold. That one day I would be proud that I did not live a selfish life. The years have pass and my time with him has pass too. But what do I have to show for it Nothing but a lump of coal. Nothing but dark and lonely days and nights. He is not the first child But he will be the last. He will always be his Father’s son And his Mother’s child. I knew this before he was born.
