Slowly as increases the tide, The ghost of yesterday walks beside, Hand-in-hand along it walks, About my bygone past we talk. Some lovely moments or fights with dears, Good or bad memories flooding my eyes with tears, Triumphs and disasters both had a place, Gone for the moment but left behind a trace. Achievements which made me and my family proud, Regrets being personal buried under a shroud, Exhilarating moments when dreams came true, And bouts of realization with lessons learnt new. People came and left but life moved on, In vain each time the heart was torn, Some strickening moments giving sleepless nights, With the heart and the brain engaged in a fight. Many moments of pleasure came at times, And went away leaving behind happy smiles, Gave small reliefs in times of stress, Evoked laughter, joy and happiness. As we talked the memories flashed, My mind started doing a playback, As thoughts and reflections filled my mind, Unknowingly the ghost I left behind. And before I could turn my steps back that way, The unforgiving tide came and swept it away, Slowly I turned ahead, away from the sea, Towards the mysterious future beckoning me.
