Dancing Through Life
When she was only one, standing beside the couch, heard the music's beat and began to dance about. At nine, in ballet, she impressed us with her grace, tap danced as if born to it, jitterbugged at a furious pace. At age 16, young and full of herself, full of life and joy, she danced most every night with boyfriend Robert Roy. Dancing on through the years with baby on her shoulder, her feet tap-tapping, she hardly noticed growing older. With hair gray and kids away, she joined the Country line; performed in nursing homes, joyfully danced to double time. She won contests at Silver Games; they hung a medal on'er. She glowed, she beamed, as if she'd received a great honor. Offspring gathered with sadness bearing down. Her finger pointed upward, "Wipe those frowns." From her bed she smiled and winked an eye. "I'll dance on golden streets now," she sighed goodbye.
