One Night Only, At the Blue Suede Cafe
One Night Only, At The Blue Suede Cafe It's down at the end of a lonely street Not far from heartbreak bay They say he's been there forever But I can't hardly say See, I always thought forever Was a long, long ways away So I walked all the way To the end of the bay Right into the Blue Suede Café When this gray-haired old gent Said, sit down her son I've got somethin' I'm mean-in' to say Then he told me his story Of fame, love and glory And sadly, he knew who to blame From Gospel to Soul Man, I owned Rock and Roll But it took it's toll, just the same And for what it's worth My time here on earth Was always, too little, too late Sure I made my mistakes And I took some bad breaks At a price, only this King could pay So each night I keep try-in' Yes there's no more deny-in' The road too redemption is long Then the band played three notes As he slowly arose And he sang songs from long, long ago He worked the stage Like a man half his age Held the crowd in the palm of his hand In total control He still owned Rock and Roll As he stole there hearts once again As he ended his show, they cried Please don't go Then he turned and he gave this reply Please remember my friends The love never ends But we all now my time has gone by As he walked from the stage they called out his name Would we ever see him again Then I thought I heard him say You can always hear me play, Right here, at the Blue Suede Cafe Maybe you know a place like the Blue Suede Café Where all your dreams can come true Don't we all have that place in our hearts I hope some day you find your way down to the Blue Suede Café It's down at the end of a lonely street where you can cry all your tears away.
