Silent Voices
Child abuse is horrible, but what is worse is when someone you love knows about it, or allows it to continue and does absolutely nothing!!! Unsettled floor as footsteps embark upon my door, The handle jiggles as a mocking clown taunting me, I am helpless, I am a naked prey frozen by the cold hands of fear. No one can hear me because my voice is silent. As the dim light slices into the darkness, The shadowy predator illuminates into the room, my thoughts are consumed. For I knew this was another moment in time, that I would have to suffer and endure. There was no one to speak for me because your eyes would not listen, So my voice went silent. You choose to muffle your ears, to shut out my pain, You were aware that there was danger, But refuse to accept this mass because it might ruin your perfect... So I continue to suffer at the hands of my abuser, and my voice went silent. As the door closes behind this unwanted intruder, My body crumpled in pain, there was no need to cry out, My screams are drowned out by your weakness. If there was an ounce of compassion, you would have look into my eyes, Without an utterance, Your heart would have known that my innocence was disturbed. So my voice went unheard, my voice was silenced. As a child, I could not understand the heartless nature of a man. I often prayed to die but in the same thought, I prayed to live. As a trumpet from heaven, God heard my plea and released me from my prison, He avenged my soul and set me free. The punctual adversary's darkness was revealed to the light. My question to you was how could you...?.. But there is no need of an answer, there is no excuse, You were my protector, I had only you, I choose not to hear you, because to me, your voice is silent. by Ursula Susette
