A Chasing After the Wind
Everything Is Meaningless 1 The words of the Teacher,[a] son of David, king in Jerusalem: 2 “Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.” 3 What do people gain from all their labors at which they toil under the sun? 4 Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever. 5 The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises. 6 The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course. 7 All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again. 8 All things are wearisome, more than one can say. The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing. 9 What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. 14 I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind. Written by Solomon, the wisest man on earth (Ecclesiastes 1: 1 – 9 and 14). Eileen’s "Wisdom" Chasing after the wind Can it ever be caught? No…You can never catch love Tightly in your grasp…. Crushed to your breast Oh...you may try and cry but it won't be contained It is like the wind…elusive And what of your dreams? Can you hold on to those… No insubstantial they seem ….just a chasing.... Chasing after wind Nothing new under the sun No new poem No new vision No new love It’s all been done before All been experienced before It's all be said before It's all be dreamed before Recycled thoughts Recycled dreams Recycled love Awwwwww Recycled love It’s all meaningless Meaningless, says the Teacher So... What is my purpose in life? Why am I here? Where am I going? What will I leave behind? Meaningless It’s all meaningless A chasing after the wind When I wake up in the morning And tears stream down my face When I reach for that pill To somehow find the grace One more day to struggle on One more day to survive I sit and wonder Why am I alive? Meaningless meaningless It’s all meaningless The wisest man on earth A teacher A king who had it all And more Health, wealth, and love and the gift of wisdom in store At the end of day…. "Meaningless" is all he had to say And so say I And so say I... There has to be a better way Than this chasing after the wind It’s ~~~~~~only ~~~~~~~~~a chasing ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~after ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~the W~I~~N~~~D~~~ Eileen Manassian
