Remembering Rain
A child does not hesitate To approach a rain storm. Innocence in its simplest form, Pure joy in a blissful state. A timid smile no longer shy, As life is absorbed by a stark earth, So few understand its actual worth And why young eyes smile at the sky. When falling from braids and pigtails Is the substance of life and beauty, The world pauses, they stop to see And wonder why a child dances beneath the gale. But life goes on as it does And children grow to maturity. The innocence and joy can rarely be Present in the world's ceaseless buzz. Is bliss a temporary feeling caged Only in the heart of a child? Or also in minds untamed and wild Belonging not the the young or aged? Memories sweeter than the sugar cane Vary for every different soul. But mine own heart cannot control The sweetness it brings to remember the rain.
