Never Leave Me
There I was in his arms Warm and safe from all harm, He kissed my cheek and fell to one knee As he said the words "Will you marry me?". One month later our wedding day came And we joined as one to be the same, But on our honeymoon he got a call I fell to the floor and lost it all. He solemnly explained that he had to go "Go where?" I wept, "You can't, please, no!", We hurried back home for him to catch his plane He was now stationed to Iraq, how insane! I watched as he took off and waved goodbye I could not bear it, therefore I cried, As the long hard days came and passed I thought of him as long as each day'd last. Six months dragged by and at the door a man knocked He handed me a letter which badly of it I thought, The letter broke my heart into a million pieces And also left scratches, bruises, and creases. He was pronounced missing in action Missing from my heart were huge fractions, But I knew one thing...I could not give up I prayed and I paced but still no luck. A few more weeks passed but I'd gotten no word "What's going on?" I'd sob, "this is absurd!", When at last I had lost all my hope I no longer like this had to cope. I walked outside and what did I see A man's figure walking towards me, Our eyes met distantly and he dropped his things My heart doesn't ache, no longer does it sting. There I was in his arms Warm and safe from all harm, I kissed his cheek as we fell to our knees And I whispered the words "Please, never leave me!"
