Gender Blender When my son was four and Learning to differentiate between genders, I told him one day that he was The prince and not the princess. He took it right and said, Like dad is the king and you are the queen. And hence the game started, Every day we played, The game called ‘Gender Blender’. I often asked him, when you grow up, What would you be – A father or a mother, A husband or a wife, A sir or a madam? He always answered, “I won’t become an actress But an actor instead.” Suddenly one day he asked ,”Mom, Am I a scooter or a car?” I thought a little and said, “Scooter my dear and you are not a car.” That day our favorite game turned into ‘Gender Blunder’. He asked,”Am I a sofa or a chair? Am I the head or a strand of hair? ” Tell me mumma, “Am I a stool or a table? Am I a T.V. or its cable?” Puzzled, as I stared in abyss , He fired another one - “Am I a peanut or an almond?” I said,” Beta. you are nothing but my sweet little diamond.” Date: 12/05/2014 *In Hindi language we can tell whether a thing has masculine or feminine gender. *Beta - son
