My Paradise
I stopped awhile, to rest my legs, and spied a crevice in the wall where mossy stones, and flagstones, lost, are hidden in the vines I'm quite intrigued, so I must squeeze, and curl myself into a twig and soon, I've found my way inside, where sun shines down in amber light A garden hidden, tucked away, I have found beyond the other side Beneath the trees are wild bouquets, a thousand blossoms dancing, bright They flaunt their beauty to the sky, seducing blackbirds gliding low Filling senses, restoring souls, keeping secrets no one knows Yellow buckwheat at my feet, while lavender, soft essence, sweet, Each wild thing fragile on the stem, will bend and bow to every breeze I will sit beside the climbing rose, and take my rest against the wall and hear a song of meadowlark, embellish stories of the years This lovely place is mine to own, watered, fed by pearls of dew Where song birds sing, and robins nest, I wonder who may know of this Were I to share my secret lair, perhaps it would not be so fair Although it's not of mine to own, my paradise, I cannot share _______________________________________________________ For Nette's Secret Garden Contest Carrie Richards 2/19/14
