Seasons
The trees, Resplendent in their golden glory, Shed their leaves, One by one, Day by day, As autumn and winter tighten their grip. Ice settles, snow falls, Winter is here once more. Animals lay beneath the earth, Upon which we tread, Deep in their slumbers, Awaiting the first buds of spring. Crisp mornings dawn, The virgin snow, Pure and white, Transforms the land before us, From hamlets and villages, To towns and cities, Mother Nature adorns her domain. Reluctant to let go, Winter releases its grasp, Buds swell and festoon the forest with colour, Birdsong fills the skies, Sunlight bathes the trees once more. People emerge, as if from sleep, To tend animals and crops, As the Earth once more enters springtime. A time of life and birth A time of hope and joy, A time of fragility, For winter is never far away.
