It Hurts
As I drove to town today My heart did fill with grief To see all the little critters Along the roads deceased. Opossums, Coons And skunks too, Now Armadillos Are more than a few. I couldn’t help but wonder If we’d their species end. Remembering they too Were created by God’s Hand. Then I thought back in History’s time As the dinosaurs crossed the county line. Were we there with wheels of stone? Or human kind the world did own? And as today When deer and vehicle meet Who would win? And who’d defeat? Would it be best with something small, So under their bellies we could crawl? Or something so huge you’d sit so high You could look them right in the eye What about fast And what about slow These things factor in too I know. A trains to small An armored vehicle, maybe And another thing I need to know How long it would take to clear the road? Things get more difficult The farther I go And dinosaurs disappeared So long, long ago. I’ll just hope Centuries down the line These species are still around With all mankind. Cile Beer
