The Odd Couple
There once lived a rat. His name was Pat. Pat was no ordinary rat for he was in love with a cat! Now the cat name was Co. Her fur was as white as snow and her eyes were like two pieces of gold. Wherever she went Pat was sure to go. But Co was unaware of Pat the rat until one day... On this day it rained and rained and poured and poured and poured until the clouds dried out and could not put out anymore. But in the storm Co fell into a river cold, wet and half drowned she moved just a quiver. Pat gave a shiver from the water on his back and went to see if he could find his beloved cat. He looked and looked but he could not find. Where was she? Without her he would surely lose his mind. He'd better find her quick cause she was running out of time. Just as he was about to give up hope he crossed over a slope and then saw the river. What he saw next made his heart quiver. Down by the river was the body of Co his beloved cat that his heart loved so. "No!" No! she can't be dead!" he said running to her and gently raising her head. She moved a bit and his heart did a flip. "Oh joy she is alive, I must get her warm and dry!" So a fire he made and fish he caught saving her life was his only thought. She soon recovered and looked around fresh fish was all over the ground. "Now who has done this for me?" she thought Pat was watching her from behind a tree and now showed himself. "It was I" he said looking quite shy "A rat saved me!?" Co cried "But why?" "Rats hate cats" "But not I, because I love you Co" Pat said tenderly "You really love me?...." "Then I love you too" And off they went on their honey moon. The had 20 kids and moved to Purau. So now you have heard the story and I swear it's true, about a rat who fell in love with a cat and that is that.
