The Train
The Train By Kevin Robey April 23, 2013 I already know what’s about to occur Feeling like I've seen this all before Addiction reducing time to a silent blur Voices that wash my paranoia ashore They don't hesitate, take time to hear me out This rocketing train leaves destruction behind Anarchy around, the insane decide the route I asked for help once, but the angels declined I look out broken windows through shards of glass Dismayed that we are going nowhere, nowhere fast The train has brought me to this perpetual impasse Where pain is the future, present, and the past Thrown to the wall as the train rounds a bend Scenes replay again just the same as before Cuts and bruises on hands that won't mend Tears from my skin that seep out of my pores They sit outside of the window and simply laugh Point their crooked fingers and spit out viscous lies My path is not a vector on one of their graphs They lay me on the floor and put coins on my eyes A dark ceremony for this twisted soul lost to light Trembling in fear, I plead to them one last time My cry for help yields their dark smiles of delight Lifting the veil on their twisted masquerade design The speeding train hurls itself into the infernal sunset The fake faces fall behind as the world fades to grey I lay out my cards; one last bet to settle my debt Let the silence fill me up as my mind fades away Rattling along the train grips the jagged rails I look out the window and see nothing at all It’s peaceful right now, I can finally exhale Gripping the throttle I slow the train to a crawl
