Masquerade
drowning in waves of chiffon perfection, a smile, a mask to avoid detection. duckling from a swan, transformed, shadows hidden by the storm. crimson tears which fall and shatter, upon satin sheets which roses scatter. nary notice by passerby, lost in the velvet which veils those eyes. praying to gods, who never were there, gasping for water, thirsting for air. seeing the world as only blind must see, from behind the mask, from upon my knees. fuschia trickles down my breast, exposed to all, unlike the rest. shivering, forcing a head held high, never to be known by an unveiled eye. puddles of satin slither by, licking softly upon my thigh. warm, familiar, but frigidly new, reminiscent of someone, once i knew. a familiar kiss, a familiar touch, one can only hope so much. yet, different now, in a familiar way, a smile of blue and eyes of grey. what once was gone, now is here, stronger, softer, no less my fear. years ago from yesterday, silent, for lack of so much to say. sugared lips, colored in despair, tasting traces of sweetness which once was there. suddenly, lifting my chin towards the sky, pouring my soul from within those eyes. from the thunder, comes the rain, from the passion, comes the pain. what i'd been looking for, for so long, is something i've already seen.
