Hindi Ache For Contest
THE HINDI ACHE Hands that jerk you on the train That you have missed by just a hair While voices urging your success Perfume the ride with extra flair. The air abounds with sounds and smells That nearly knock you off your feet And children dance in your parade With smiles that make your day complete. The poverty that hits the heart Seems unimportant to the crowds Embracing life from day to day Adoring family --ramrod proud. The colors dazzle—glorious shades (No camera ever captures this) The flower markets stun the soul-- Surpass the wildest lover's kiss. Time plays tricks--the ticket calls Home again one need return-- But tries to ease the Hindi ache With tear filled eyes --as incense burns. Victoria Anderson-Throop June 10, 2013
