Welcome To Fort Beer
One summer to give the kids Something to do We tore down the outhouse For a project or two. They pried and we grunted That is no pun, To get it dismantled Boy was that fun. When all was torn down And nails pulled out They took out the ruler And marked it all out. The post hole diggers Were borrowed next day Along with four posts That had been thrown away. We all took our turns At digging the holes When we were finished We put in the poles. We brought out two chairs To have something to saw on Measured the boards And took turns at gnawing. When time had come For the finishing touch We found some paint But needed a brush. When dad came in from the field We ran to meet him , made him close his eyes And led him across the yard, To our surprise. With grins on our faces We said open your eyes And hollered "Welcome to Fort Beer" Come on inside. This is the one Fort The Indians didn't fear And we all had fun In our little Fort Beer.
