Death Does Us Part
I saw the best minds of my generation die at a young age while the arrival of dawn shone dull like and dreary, showing the number of losses over a short time I saw the bright lights of heaven look down on our souls, offering peace above us, as we sat and mourned over no one but ourselves I saw the distance to the credo, informing us of peace and well being, In the light of our future, in the darkness of our friends I saw the night of my beckon call, in a dream or a fantasy with a road to the top, as it left my being and became one I saw the valley of peace that our friends endured, as they raced to a new life beyond I now see the loss of my generation, as it bleeds through the cracks of our lives, eventually rotting its way to a surface not far from hell, that we who remain refer to as the world… I can smell the sound of victory as it lifts from the sands of the earth, gnawing its way through the rock and soil, grasping on to the innocent, causing pain and suffering for the living, but I can see the vein of hope as it swoops down to lift us and lead us to the angels above, with reassurance that we will forever rule the world with an aftermath of faith…
