Broken Man
What goes up Must One day fall A man with no hope A man on a path of destruction A man who caused his own demise A sorry sight is he who has fallen Off his selfish pedestal And landed on his face Now broken and dejected He is a man with no way out Of his burdensome life A broken man who lost all He selfishly acquired He now stands alone Abandoned by all who were once held dear He is a man on his knees Forced to be a supplicant Now that karma has boomeranged He takes this bitter pill reluctantly Never acknowledging his central role In his own downfall He spews hollow venom Lambasting the imaginary causes That humbled him The money and friends he cherished Have all fled The symbols of success wantonly amassed Are but useless baubles With No Intrinsic value And Are Unable to purchase his soul From the pawnshop of hell He is left to ponder Who he is now His soul has been laid bare To reach this point Was a short journey from the high of over -surviving To the depths of reeking despair The king of his hill he was Thoughts of tomorrow were always kept at bay Today was all it was supposed to be Patiently awaiting his next chance for sweet misery He lives a life of self-interested regret His fix of hell a pill no one Will prevent him swallowing Live a good life For one day all your worth Will be put to test Life might be better for the humblest
