Shibe Park
For sixty-one years it would lie. It was there in plain view to all passersby at Twenty-first Street and Lehigh Avenue. Baseball teams would meet and play each home game. The place first opened in 1909. Athletics in the American League would compete with many players achieving fame. Many of those teams playing there were fine. The Eagles also played football. The Phillies moved there in 1938. Those teams performed with fans to enthrall. Many sports memories originating there were great. The Athletics moved away after 1954. Connie Mack Stadium would be the new name. The city honored the man who's a member of the Hall of Fame. Phillies teams continued to play there some more. The last game was played in 1970. After that, the place would soon be a memory.
