I See
My eyes see further than the reaches of light Deep beneath the surface of your pale optical illusions And they are always looking and seeking For answers I hear screams from your silent voice And I hear your racing heartbeat like thunder across the plains I can hear the words you do not speak And I listen I can feel your pain, suffering and your rage Though you are smiling They are deep and old, but I feel them like fresh wounds still steaming in the cold And I ache I see your soul like naked men wandering the lands Everything is bare The robes you wear mask nothing to my eyes And your voice keeps no secrets Yet, I must pretend and wear masks of my own Speak of lily-white lies so that you may smile, frownless I live a life of lies so that you may dwell guiltless Without responsibility Without balance And without reason And what do I owe you? Why must I be so confined to keep you smiling with lies? Can no other see nor hear beyond reflections? While I live hour to hour and day to day I remember And my memory keeps I no longer want to carry your burdens
