His Patience
I have tried his patience enough It started like a wink And like a worked up fellow I slumbered away. Just like a dream There were no impossibilities No limitations whatsoever Everything seemed easy and likeable I did not restrain my hands I toiled as much as my strength could Doing everything that come to thought And tested my potential in every endeavor Like a dog destined to death Restraint was thrown to the winds And nothing could stop my escapades. Because I must exhaust my whole drive. And now I have awoken to reality I had always heard a voice all through But it never mattered to me it was God And I have failed to heed. Though I visited his house often I have failed to hear him Always would he speak to me like a father But I choose to be prodigal In the miry clay where I chose to live He still cared to visit But I looked at his and told him away Yet he would not stop. All the way he followed me Never bothered about my filth and dirt Then my eyes opened And I saw how far I have strayed. My head bowed, I could not look at his face I have seen how much I have been disobedient Guilt was my second nature How do I tell him I am sorry? I have stretched his patience to the extreme Can he still forgive me? But he took my hand Looked into my eyes and told me I have always waited for this day I have given all I had to have you You are still the man after my heart And I desire to forever have you. Tears rolled down my face I have seen this unconditional love I held his hand and prayed him to forgive me I really could not comprehend the peace he gave me My life has changed ever since He has taken my life of sin and disobedience And given me a life of grace and liberty I will forever follow his trail.
