In Memory of a Friend
Joyce was my friend We met as adults both troubled in our own way Her smile brighter than any star Her laugh just as contagious She was a patient person more so than I And her dreams were big but she didn’t care She worked at three jobs to make them come true Her dream was to retire at fifty She was an animal lover and had a menagerie of pets She was tireless in making them happy and healthy Even strays had a home at her house Never turning one away We helped each other through bad times and shared our good ones and could tell each other anything We would whisper and giggle while sipping tea At some small secret we shared Christmas was our favorite time of year and we would hunt for precious ornaments for our trees And we would celebrate when we found just the right one Her favorite was a beautiful angel for the top of her tree Joyce passed away at the age of fifty After fighting a courageous battle She was dignified and loving to the end She only cared how it hurt me I think of you Joyce every day Bittersweet memories I miss you You are my Angel
