Feigning Interest
eye contact leaving the scene & jittery in the seat, the person sitting across from you has somewhere else to go, somewhere else to be & suddenly they can do nothing but convey in every bodily communicative motion possible just how much they need to distance themselves from this very boring exchange, which they are having with you--- certainly, you did nothing wrong, had no ulterior motive in starting up a conversation or taking part in one that might’ve begun with a completely different topic, but now, as the eyes begin to roll & the once neutral gestures of boredom begin to be replaced by rudeness displayed on all fronts, you find yourself offended by the other party’s inability to excuse themselves from the situation, rather, they seem to be bent on forcing you to be the one that physically gets up & leaves--- this new realization that has just clicked, does not offend you like the former & instead, it empowers, because if this person sitting across from you is feigning interest, becoming more rude with every passing second & yet they do not have the gall to get up themselves, you have the ability to keep them there indefinitely, going on & on endlessly, finding topics that even bore you to death & expounding on them to the furthest, most meticulously anal regions that anyone could possibly fathom, revealing to yourself that not only are you a plethora of conversational possibility, but you are an amazing actor as well & you didn’t even know you had it in you until only a few moments ago.
