Over Eager
time away from the game of seeking out a lover keeps the shy in the dark until the last moment when the hormones may command & the eyes cause the mind to stir & the body to follow when spring rears its exciting face for many the sun unravels its rays down upon the skin warming & bringing possibly a new insight into the ability of one to attract another. then & there the preparation begins the minutes & seconds building to hours spent in front of the mirror time taken away from habits once repeated but now left by the wayside & makeup, new hairstyles, trips to the gym, bathing in cologne, washing in perfume & the constant self-critique which comes with each rejection that might ensue. practicing becomes the new habit when the pondering of new pick up lines takes up most of the day & the quick rambling to already attached friends & family breeds new slants to approach the crush while at the same time causing more worry as to wonder just what it is that one is doing wrong. but the over eager may learn soon that the constant pursuit of something will most likely draw less interesting prospects & a lack of substance in conversation, personality, etc. for though the physical can lead one to hop from rock to rock as a frog in a stream, the payoff is still the same---lying belly up in the dirty water stirring up the sand below.
