Threads
My Darling, I,m sorry, I,ve held you too closely Our love has been bound in threads of control I cling to my threads weaved intricately Desperately grasping to keep me whole Fear is my navigator, guiding me from my soul Fear beckons to pull you in while chasing me away I anxiously struggle to free my grip in hopes you will stay Our life together deceased; I,ve sadly shattered our dreams Fear has led to our demise; my thread,s beginning to fray The threads which scarcely bind us, pulling apart at the seams I know my threads have cut you much deeper than a knife Each thread slicing deeper than all the others before Alas, I know I have caused you suffering and strife My darling, if you please, open our love,s closed door I will show you my fear is a ship on the distant shore If you give me another chance, love will be our thread alone I will hold it loosely so we may weave the fabrics sewn Each to give, to take, pushing and pulling, from before and nether So darling, I will meet you anytime, anywhere strange or known on the loose end of the thread holding our hearts together By Rhonda Johnson-Saunders, February 1, 2012 for Thread ~ Free Poetry Contest
