You and I
This room with soiled carpet and peeling paint, its a mess like our lives, but its what we give to each other. She is naked and I can't stand against it, the wisdom of her velvet skin, the passion of the embrace as we become one. Her mind is wondering deeply and far away, she is so high, sometimes I mess with her mind when she is like that. She is just staring out the peephole, stuck at the door, invisible chains hold her like I'm not here. I decide to fill her with desire, caressing her back and kissing her neck, it breaks the fixation with the peephole. We're making love again, united in the bed and casting spells upon each other. In those moments she always says; I love you, then the moment is gone. Is it mutual toleration or are we playing out the best of a bad relationship, then making noises and faces, never really understanding. My lover, my friend, is nearly out of dope now and scheming to get more. She dresses, we exchange nervous good-byes, I love you's and broken promises. Well she is gone now and I'm feeling lonely, that is the hard part for me, but she is an addict and that my friends is real like my love for her is real. My body is tired now, but my mind is restless, so I ponder what she had seen out that peephole and I take a look, its such a narrow view of the world all distorted like our lives and that is You and I.
