Pure Thoughts On Nature
PURE THOUGHTS ON NATURE Water moulds rock, rock resists : There is no winner, no loser at all. Mother birds feed babies : this is amoral. Neither bad nor good ; simply what exists. Men are attracted to women - that’s how it was meant; Air is beautiful to breathe; water to drink; Lions eat gazelles. All this is amoral, despite what we think. Death comes to all in the end : not a moral event. Poverty in the midst of plenty doesn’t exist in nature; Such things are not natural : are immoral. They exist only in man’s realm, as also all The haters, murderers, and lusty debauchers. Turn away a beggar - not enough money for your self? Pure nature’s made impure by our weakness in the head. Someone* said “ A small bird will drop frozen dead From a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself.” It is immoral to see orphans and not want to foster The homeless, unloved, ignored, or despised. We may think they are failures, while we are prized, But triumph and disaster are unnatural imposters. ** …………………………………………. NOTES * Actually, the great novelist and poet D. H. Lawrence ** From R. Kipling’s poem “ IF ” . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Entered in John Freeman’s Contest “Pure Thoughts On Nature”
