My Paradise
Paradise for each of us, is defined by personal choice. For some it's great beauty, for others a heavenly voice. Many prefer the traditional, angels strumming harps on clouds, While a few love rock concerts, with screaming, dancing crowds. True paradise on this planet, may be a totally unreachable goal. But I finally found my paradise, which thankfully warms my soul. This place I call paradise, is a wild and wooded tract, Overlooking a pristine lake, these are the basic facts. But it's what this spot on earth, does for me each day, It makes my life adventurous, I'm very pleased to say. On this forty acre tract of land, a plethora of wildlife abounds, I refer to them as good neighbors, as strange as this may sound. From the lowly Earthworms, that ply the loamy soil, To the industrious Beaver, that always seem to toil. And if I should look skyward, I may unexpectedly see, A soaring Bald Eagle, looking right back down at me. But if per chance I want to hear, the wildest of nature's songs, I'll request our resident pair of Loons, commence a sing-along. There's a harmony here, that's controlled by some divine design, Which makes it impossible for me, to claim this paradise as mine. I am but a temporary stewart, of these natural treasures one and all, And my ashes will be spread right here, in paradise, when I get that final call.
