My True Behind Bars Blues
This is my story about behind bars blues, but this is my true story about me and booze. Fourteen months after turning twenty-one, the judge was looking at me saying you're done. At that point in my life, I was hanging out with the wrong guys. In that little period of time, I racked up three DUI's. After I experienced a brother's death, my life derailed. I knew for a long time, I was going to be jailed. Their were 21 guys in my cell. Those 21 guys made my life a living hell. To all of them, I was just a young, little pup. So for all of them, I was someone they could beat up. They did it for my commissary and food, sometimes it was just because they were in a bad mood. Some nights when I was asleep, they pulled me out and off my feet. After that I laid their, staring at a puddle of my own blood on the concrete. If I had a chance to take back those three DUI's and wipe them away, I wouldn't, they made me learn and made me the person I am today. Those mistakes were made for a reason, so I could lay their on that ground. I'd do it the exact same way again, because they made me turn my life around. For anyone affected by a DUI, I can understand your hostility. Don't get me wrong, for my actions, I take full responsibility. I say I wouldn't change my past, so look where I'm coming from. Those mistakes saved my life, they made me the man I've become. By Chris Matt
