This Is Dedicated To the One I Love the Shirrells Question Mark
TEAR, FEAR AND EVERY STARE Ah, I remember Baudelaire He oh so very rare Privileged were we to share the same air With genius penned on paper whose purpose was quite clear Yes, such a man was Baudelaire And I know because I was there The recently departed William Burroughs with whom I shared a naked Lunch…….. And why he wanted us to be naked I haven’t a hunch That’s odd, we never did have a naked brunch His words are inked upon my heart right about here and in my soul resides his poetic view on the fantastic and the fear There were junkies like himself to write about but the poem would have been one omnipresent tear And I know because I was there Cocaine suited Edgar Alan Poe to a tee I purchased it with his money and he gave a lot to me From the powder was birthed “Quote the raven, Nevermore” And a constant heartbeat under the floor Oh, his fantasies that I was honored to hear And I know because I was there Jack Kerouac and Ken Keesy floating on a bus to nowhere Simply because there were different birds to hear Begging providence just to keep the bus in gear the bus came to a screeching halt because there was a "coocoo's nest" "on the road" The driver may not have stopped if it was just a lowly toad When Jack spoke……… Ken implied When Ken spoke…… Jack’s attention could never be defied A pair of friends on a bus with people unawares what genius they were sitting so near And damn it………… I really should have been there © 2011.…..phreepoetree
