Rain
Drumming down on my windowpane an uneven rhythm A broken pace a sad girl staring out into the street Rain clouds, gray, dark, covering my whole world in a sheet of cold Icy water beating down as I stare out into the misty fog alight with wonders If only I could find them Every time you have a broken heart you lose a piece of it so it slowly diminishes until you find that you want to keep it close lest you lose any more One more piece of mine has left me has gone out into the shivering cold of a March night As I wait once more for the pain to pass Waiting for something that will give me hope Dried tear tracks stain my face As I look into the cold, wet world. But I watch the sun rise the world filling with color The vibrant pink Subtle red Bright orange The darkness of night transforming into the brightness of a new day I peer into the world clutching the remains of my tattered heart I walk out the door Unready to begin feeling like the earth is moving too quickly for me to catch up But I don't care I'm running out onto the street now bathed in sunlight I look up The storm has passed Love is here.
