Her Favorite Bonnet
HER FAVORITE BONNET Wife loved her black-and-white bonnet With a sort of bow at the back. Believe me I’m no expert on it But it was awful - most of it was black And it looked horribly like a tail, long and slack. She asked me how it seems. I lied and said very picturesque, Especially the hand-sewn seams - Makes you look statuesque, Maybe even Junoesque I didn’t want to hurt her with my real thought (From some angles it was dalamatian-esque) Though I suppose I really ought (from others it was more zebra-esque ; And the hanging tail looked skunk-esque). Went to get something pretty to suit her, to give her. Bought a big green-and-purple thing on sale; And the other hat I dropped in the river. She said but it’s not black and white - it’s pale; And where’s me favourite bit, its tail?!
