The Million Piece Puzzle
Someone who longs to feel wanted. Someone who destroys the lines of safety, That have been painted around her. The lines that have kept her coloring page pretty, Her smile pearly white, And her feelings locked inside. Those feelings that scream out how she feels! How she wants! How she needs! How she yearns! How she needs! Those cries that no one has heard until now. He passes her by and her heart pounds fast, Her palms begin to sweat. A loss of words stuns her, And all she can do is hardly breathe, As he passes her by. He doesn't take in how pretty her hair is, Or how she did her makeup just for him. An ignorance. Something unknown. As her heart dies down, hapiness dies with it; The match did not strike the fuse today. She mumbles on about how love isn't real, A drone she's become used to. Again she sits in class and listens to them talk, The ones that cast her out, And leave her by herself at study hall. He sits by her and smiles, The angelic face that she yearns to belong to. But she never will. It's hard playing innocent when you hide behind a mask. They can't see you true and tried, So they can't judge you. You know what they see is a facade, But you don't reveal yourself due to fear. The story goes that life is one big puzzle, And you assemble it piece by piece. It's hard to find the right one when they're all the same color, Like a clear blue sky on a bitter winter morning. The crisp air nibbles at your face; Your cheeks are rosy from the wind. It's my favorite game, Searching for the right answer. Like a magician, it is an illusion yet to be solved. So I just sit her alone and work on my puzzle, Fitting every piece to piece, slowly creating my picture. The Big One, the one that matters, With every hard-earned detail that I've spilled tears and blood and sweat over, That are all worth it in the end, When I finish my million piece puzzle.
