To My Perfect Woman
This poem is a response to my classmate's poem entitled 'To My Perfect Man'. I stand as knight of chivalry for you, Somewhere in the far ends of eternity. Someday deep in the currents of time, I will meet you: Princess of my heart's infinity. Great Arthur I may never equal, Nor defeat the eight labors of mighty Hercules. But for you, I will do my best, To beat the odds in a way that's humblest. Armors of gold and silver I do not possess, Neither could tame the winged horse of Olympus, Yet on this sweat-filled shoulders of mine, Cry on- let our courage and love entwine. Ithaca's Penelope will never equal your beauty And great Odysseus would surely be jealous of me. Even Zeus' strength for you is never important, 'Cause you on my gentle arms is the perfect plan. Angelic wings I may not have, Human as I am, imperfect and unworthy for you. But in my flaw is our perfection, And love that would bridge every imperfection. Crossroads and oceans I would dare conquer, To make myself for you better, To make the road you once traveled alone colorful, And prove that our destiny is blissful.
